Patronage

WHAT DOES THE FIRST VISIT FROM ONE OF OUR BABYPROMED PATRONAGE NURSES LOOK LIKE?

Upon receiving your call, we agree upon our time of arrival at your home address. We are at your disposal 24/7 at any time of a day, night, during the weekend and holidays.

ARRIVAL AT YOUR HOME ADDRESS

A nurse comes with all the necessary materials needed to process the navel and a scale to measure the baby so that we can keep track of the infant's weight. After arriving at your home address, the patronage nurse will talk to you, take any relevant medical history and review your and your baby's discharge list to gain a better understanding of your health and then answer any questions parents might have.

This is followed by the examination of the senses, baby bathing, the examination of the navel, the wrapping of the baby and the education of the parents on the proper care for the baby. If parents are reluctant to participate in the baby's treatment out of fear or uncertainty, they are free to relax while the nurse is cleaning the baby. Parents can engage in one of the following visits when they feel ready to do so. So far, in our experience, this happens after the umbilical cord has fallen off.

BREASTFEEDING

Parents can join in one of the next visits when they feel ready to do so. Usually, in our own experience, this happens after the umbilical cord stump has fallen off.

If your baby is being breastfed, the patronage nurse will show you how to prepare yourself and your baby for breastfeeding, by showing you the correct feeding technique from placing your baby on the breast, explaining how long the breastfeeding should last, how you can take care of your breasts, and educating you on how to overcome any potential issues that may arise.

However, if breastfeeding is not your choice, we respect that!

PATRONAGE VISIT DURATION

First patronage visit usually takes about 90 minutes, but rest assured that we will not look at the clock as we appreciate you choosing BabyProMed, so the first visit will end when the patronage nurse estimates that all your questions have been answered and that you are at ease and ready for the patronage nurse to leave your home. The duration of each subsequent visit would be 60 minutes.

If the baby has a health risk, our team of nurses will work with the family to eliminate or minimize any potential risks for the baby's health. When it comes to families whose child is conditioned with a disability i.e. requires complex and demanding nurture, feel comfortable to contact us, because the BabyProMed team would be able to support you.
